Don't confuse few with less. Fewer, the comparative form of few, is used with words referring to people or countable things (fewer learners; fewer than ten players). Less is used with things which cannot be counted (less food; less rain). Less is also used with numbers (less than 5000) and to express time and measurements (less than four weeks; less than 20 km to go).
