Usage

The English indefinite articles 'a' and 'an', as well as the definite article 'the', have no direct translations in isiZulu. In English, you use 'a' before any noun that begins with a consonant sound and 'an' before any noun that begins with a vowel sound or a silent 'h', for example 'a dentist', 'an apple', 'a hotel', 'an hour'.
