Don't confuse 'few' with 'less'. 'Fewer', the comparative form of 'few', is used with words referring to people or countable things ('fewer learners'; 'fewer than ten players'). 'Less' is used with things which cannot be counted ('less food'; 'less rain'). 'Less' is also used with numbers ('less than 5000') and to express time and measurements ('less than four weeks'; 'less than 20 km to go').
